Fisherman John Skinner, of Greenport, was fishing Saturday, Aug. 24, in Southold for bluefish when he hooked a large brown shark up against some rocks.

A YouTube video shows the shark and the entire 20 minute battle with the fish.

Because the brown shark is prohibited in New York, he immediately released it.

There have been a number of shark sightings in the area over the summer, including in Penniman Creek in Quogue, in Jamesport, and on Tobay Beach.

Skinner said on the video it was a little rough up against the rocks, and then wading into the deep waters with the shark to release it.
